Tide Times
Before you head out onto the beach, please consult the tide times. The beach here at Joggins has two very distinct zones, which are indicated by geological formations. The main section of the beach closest to the Fossil Centre is accessible usually up to an hour or so before and after high tide. There are some areas, which are considered "remote" and have a much earlier danger time (2 to 3 hours).
The north point (Coal Mine Point) and the south point (Dennis Point) mark the beginning of these areas, which are considered remote and the followingMap and Safe Beach Access document shows the areas and the safest times to access them.
To be safe, only access remote areas on our guided tours and call in advance to check tide times.
