Jenna Boon
Director
Jenna Boon is currently the Director of the Joggins Fossil Institute. Prior to holding her current position, Jenna had worked as the senior project manager to develop the Joggins Fossil Centre and to have the Cliffs inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Jenna has worked in senior management positions in the field of post secondary education in PEI and in Saskatchewan while working in education Jenna led a project to build homes with Habitat for Humanity, developed and implemented new programming for first nations communities, coached a varsity women’s volleyball team, participated in international educational projects in England, Germany, Greece and El Salvador. She also worked as a Project Specialist for an Environmental Studies Program at the Kenya Polytechnic in Nairobi. In addition to working in the public education sector, Jenna established and managed her own environmental consulting business that focused on impact assessments for sustainable forestry and wildlife management.
Jenna volunteers on numerous local, provincial, national and international committees including but not limited to being a board member of the local coop grocery store, participating as a steering committee member for the Bay of Fundy Ecosystem Partnership, providing counsel to the minister of tourism through the Nova Scotia Tourism Partnership Council and recently Jenna was asked to participate as a World Heritage Panel Member though the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (and advisory body to UNESCO).
Jenna holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Regina and is currently enrolled in the Masters of Marine Management program at Dalhousie University in Halifax. She loves living on the Bay of Fundy and has numerous interests including hiking, windsurfing, kite flying, kayaking, reading and visual art.
