Scheduled Guided Tours

The best way to view the cliffs first hand is with one of our enthusiastic and knowledgable interpretative tour guides. Our guides can take you either on a short Logan tour, which will give you a basic knowledge of why the cliffs exist and the types of fossils you can expect to see, or a longer Lyell or Dawson tour, where you can see the cliffs in their full glory, the place where the bones of Hylonomus were discovered and gain a more in-depth knowledge of the Carboniferous Period.
Our Interpretative Guides are aware of newly uncovered fossils and can point out fossils, which you might miss if exploring alone.

We request that you reserve places on both the Lyell and Dawson Tours in advance. Logan Tours do not require a reservation. Visitors must sign-up for tours at least 10 minutes in advance of the departure time.
The Joggins Fossil Institute reserves the right to cancel or postpone a guided tour at any time, if it is deemed by management that the contitions or the tide might present potential danger to staff and participants. We highly recommend that you call our bookings line 902-251-2727 ext 231 on the day to check that our tours are leaving at the scheduled time, even if you are already booked onto a tour, and to avoid any disappointment.
The Joggins Fossil Institute does allow dogs on guided tours, however they must remain on a leash at all times and owners are required to clean up after their pets.
